Germany Wins 2026 Albert Schweitzer Tournament Behind MVP Jamie Edoka

Germany captured the 2026 Albert Schweitzer Tournament title after defeating Slovenia 83–79 in an exciting championship game, reclaiming one of the most prestigious trophies in international youth basketball.

The host nation was led throughout the event by Jamie Edoka, who was named tournament MVP after averaging 14.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game. Edoka delivered in the biggest moments, knocking down game-winning shots while showcasing elite playmaking and leadership.

Germany’s success was also powered by Lucai Anderson, the team’s leading scorer at 15.0 points per game, while shooting an impressive 43% from three-point range. Inside, Leonard Kröger provided consistency as the tournament’s most efficient player and top rebounder, averaging 8.9 boards per contest.

Germany’s deep and talented roster also featured Fin Borczanowski, Dusan Ilic, Lars Danziger, and Caspar Vossenberg, helping the team balance scoring, defense, and versatility on its way to the title.

Slovenia claimed the silver medal, led by standout forward Lun Jarc, who averaged 15 points and 6 rebounds per game. He was supported by Lukas Nikola Bojovic, Oskar Kuzman, and Maks Ciperle, as Slovenia impressed throughout the tournament before falling narrowly in the final.

Brazil secured the bronze medal after edging Serbia 89–88 in a thrilling third-place game. Brazil’s roster included Pedro Souza, the reigning U17 South American MVP, alongside Pietro Melo and Mathias Vazquez.

Among the tournament’s top individual performers, Ricards Aizpurs of Latvia finished as the third-leading scorer with 18 points per game, while Sweden’s Lukas Novakovic ranked among the top five scorers and top perimeter shooters, hitting 36% from three-point range.

Japan also produced one of the tournament’s best single-game performances thanks to Kenny Benedict, who posted 22 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 blocks in a victory over Sweden.

Other notable teams featured Serbia with Aleksej Nedeljkovic, Nikola Karalic, Vuk Danilovic, and Andrej Bjelic, Bahrain led by Hassan Abdulkadir, Somto Onoduenyi, and Mahdi Bager, and China with Zhang Yizhaojie, Zhang Ziyi, and Zhang Chunzhi.

With Germany lifting the trophy once again, the 2026 Albert Schweitzer Tournament once more confirmed its reputation as one of the premier showcases for future international basketball talent.
